Plan mapping before use
Create a justified measurement plan for new premises. Geometry, rack heights, doors, cooling equipment and loading influence logger positions. Consider relevant operating and seasonal conditions using a risk-based approach. The report should clearly identify usable areas, critical locations and restrictions.
Use results to position sensors
Locate permanent sensors at appropriate points supported by mapping results. Include calibration, sampling intervals and measurement uncertainty in the monitoring concept. Changes to racking, ventilation or layout can trigger reassessment and, where justified, repeat mapping.
Link alarms to actions
Define warning limits, alarm thresholds, delays and escalation routes. Test that alerts reach an available contact outside normal working hours. Response includes protecting products, investigating causes and documenting decisions. Temperature records need an effective response process.
Prepare for failure and excursions
Agree alternative storage, technical support and power or cooling failure decisions for the Cheb operation. Excursion assessment considers temperature, duration and affected products. Returning stock to normal use needs a documented quality assessment; averages do not automatically justify release.
From temperature mapping protocol to report
Agree the measurement plan, justification of logger positions, calibration evidence, recorded operating conditions, raw data and analysis. Evaluate hot and cold spots and derive routine monitoring positions. Define who performs the study, prepares the report, assesses the results and authorises use.
Seasonal warehouse and cold-room mapping
Temperature distribution studies depend on room height, racking, loading, doors and ventilation. Cold-room mapping at 2–8 °C considers door openings and recovery times. For 15–25 °C warehouses, assess seasonal effects in the study design. The scope follows risk and intended use.
Prepare for site planning
The planning lists below are practical recommendations for your site project; they do not replace project-specific qualification or a regulatory decision.
- Set product-specific limits and measurement ranges
- Write a mapping plan covering premises and operating conditions
- Assign calibrated loggers and permanent sensors
- Test alerts and contact availability
- Document emergency actions and excursion assessment
